Hollow City: the second novel of Mrs Peregrines Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
After Jacob, Emma and the rest of the Peculiars manage to escape from the Island, they find themselves being hunted for by the Whits. With Mrs Peregrine in bird form, they need to find their way to London to get a Ymbryne to fix her. But the journey is perilous and there are many things to be worried about. These worries might not even matter, however, if London has fallen.
Sorry if that made absolutely no sense. It is the second in the series, and so you kind of need to have read the first book to understand. This book and the first book (there is a third book but I haven't read it yet) are both excellent reads. I was expecting to find this book less thrilling than the first, as this is usually the way with sequels. I found that it was absolutely brilliant. I liked the use of old pictures to help the story along.
The ending left you on a large cliff hanger and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book.
